Leading hackers of the iPhone Dev Team are quitting work on jailbreaking Apple’s latest iOS update in the wild — 4.0.2. The team says that it does not make sense to be playing a cat and mouse game with Apple (with the Dev Team finding exploits, and Apple quickly patching them).
But that doesn’t mean the team is calling it quits forever. The Dev Team is currently working on an exploit for iOS 4.1, which is currently in beta.
According to a post on the Dev Team Blog, “With FW 4.1 still in its beta stages, it makes no sense to escalate the ‘cat & mouse’ with Apple for FW updates that only fix the jailbreak holes. To quote WOPR, ‘the only winning move is not to play’.”
