According to analyst Mingchi Kuo of Concord Securities, Apple is expected to sell and ship a whopping 700,000 MacBook Air laptop computers (the new version was announced this past Wednesday) in the fourth quarter of 2010. According to Kuo, this will account for more than 17 percent of the company’s expected 4.1 million Macintosh shipments. Interestingly, Kuo notes that the 11.6-inch MacBook Air will account for 60 percent of Air sales due to it’s lower price of $999.
These numbers are expected to spike with the release of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion in the Summer of next year, but that of course will be way past the fourth quarter of this year.
With that said, this is speculation and should be taken with a grain of salt.
