BlackBerry smartphone users, rejoice! Just as it was predicted, Waterloo, Ontario-based Research In Motion (RIM) has made available the new BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0 today. RIM originally granted select BlackBerry Beta Zone member access to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0 Limited Beta in July. A few days later, the program was leaked to a number of file-sharing websites. Luckily, anyone can download and install the official version today.
Do take into account that BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0 is currently available for Windows only. Mac users don’t feel too bad. BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac was recently updated to version 1.0.4 to support the new BlackBerry Torch 9800.
According to the official release notes, which you can found embedded in the full post, BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6.0 includes the following new features:
- An improved, simpler design for the software
- Added BlackBerry® Media Sync features to import and synchronize your media files (music, pictures, and videos) from one location
- Option to synchronize your music by artist and genre
- Support for the BlackBerry® Torch™ 9800 Smartphone and the BlackBerry® Curve™ 9300 Smartphone
- If your device is using BlackBerry® Device Software 6.0, you can use the Wi-Fi® music sync feature to download or remove songs from your computer’s music collection using your device when you connect to your home’s Wi-Fi network
