Today we reported that Apple had already begun investigating a browser security vulnerability in iOS 4, which could allow malicious individuals to take full control of an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad by presenting a specially-crafted PDF file. As we explained before, the security hole was being exploited by newly-created web-based jailbreaking tool JailbreakMe.
It now appears that Cupertino, California-based Apple has come up with a solution to the problem, which will be distributed to users through an upcoming update.
An Apple spokeswoman is quoted as saying:
“We’re aware of this reported issue, we have already developed a fix and it will be available to customers in an upcoming software update.”
With that said, users who are planning to jailbreak their iOS 4-powered devices should make use of JailbreakMe as soon as possible, considering that Apple could release said update at any moment now. Additionally, do not open any suspicious PDF files for the time being.
More information as soon as update is released. Stay tuned, everyone.
