Facebook and Twitter have their “Like” and “Tweet” buttons respectively in order to help users recommend and discover online content. Now, Google is following suit with the introduction of its very own “+1” recommendation button for more relevant results.
Google announced on The Official Google Blog that its +1 button will appear in its search results page. Individuals who find specific webpages or even ads interesting can easily click the +1 button, which will make these results more relevant. This will help individuals discover content more easily — given that Google will present them with results that have been +1′d by their friends just like the company does with Social Search.
To +1 content, the latest version of a Google profile is required. The +1 service will be rolling out gradually in English on Google.com. Google states that +1′s will initially appear in search results. However, we can soon expect to see them in websites and other Google products in the future.
