According to an Apple Australia spokesperson, iPhone 4 proximity sensor issues will not be cleared up in the iOS 4.1 update for iPhone 4.
Apple CEO had made mention that a fix for the issue would be released with iOS 4.1 back in July, when Apple held an impromptu media conference surrounding the iPhone 4′s “antennagate” controversy, which addressed user-reporting issues of signal loss when the iPhone 4 was held in a certain manner. Apple then announced plans to distribute free cases and bumpers.
The fact of the matter is that Apple continues to work on the proximity sensor issue update, though it will reportedly not be finished in time for the release of iOS 4.1, slated from release in the very near future.
More information as it becomes available.
