Skype Limited announced today on The Big Blog that its official Skype application for iPhone has been updated to finally support multitasking and the new iPhone Retina Display. The application can now be left running in the background. That means that users can now receive calls while their iPhone is running a different application, is idle, or locked. Additionally, users can switch to another application while on a phone call.
The company also stated that it no longer plans to charge users additional fees for calls over 3G. The company originally set the end of August as a deadline for free Skype-to-Skype calls. Then, the company extended the free Skype-to-Skype calling period until the end of this year. Luckily, the company has made the right choice, and decided to eliminate the charges completely.
Users can grab the latest version of Skype from the iTunes App Store.
