Mozilla announced today on its Mozilla Labs Blog that its “Weave Sync” project has finally graduated. The technology is now called “Firefox Sync,” and will be incorporated into the browser in the near future through a major release. However, version 1.3 of Firefox Sync has been made available as an add-on for now.
According to Mozilla, Firefox Sync 1.3 includes the following new features:
- Availability in more than 15 languages including German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Chinese
- A simpler sign-up and setup process
- A single button to access all your remote tabs and more.
Mozilla also states that they are currently working on a Firefox Sync-based application for the iPhone called “Firefox Home.” According to the company, the app will allow iPhone users “instant access to their Firefox browsing history, bookmarks, and the set of tabs from their most recent browser session.” Additionally, users will have “Awesome Bar” capabilities.
The company recommends users to install Firefox Sync 1.3 in preparation for the Firefox Home for iPhone launch.
