Microsoft revealed today in a session at the MIX 2010 developer conference in Las Vegas, Nevada a myriad of new details regarding its newest Windows Phone 7 operating system. Amongst the new details was a list of well-known app developers, whom Microsoft is partnering with. According to the Redmond-based company, developers will be able to create applications that take advantage of many of the Windows Phone 7 Series features and components including accelerometer, push notifications, GPS, camera/mic support, Internet streaming capabilities, hardware-accelerated video, and multi-touch.
Additionally, Microsoft revealed an improved Windows Phone Marketplace, which will come pre-loaded on the new Windows Phone 7 Series devices. The new Marketplace will include support for credit card purchases, operator billing, and even ad-supported content. Developers will also be able to add a free trial to their applications. Unlike Android, WP7S developers will have the freedom to choose the trial period.
The Windows Phone Marketplace will also feature the panoramic background. Users will be able to browser through different categories, titles, and featured items. Once an app is selected, users will be able to see more details like ratings, screen shots, reviews, and price. Purchased apps will be able to be pinned to the Quick Launch screen for easy access.
Update: Windows Phone Marketplace will be the only way to get apps on a Windows Phone 7 Series device.
