Nokia must have stashed away the secret to King Midas’ touch, as their factory lines have started to produce the Nokia N97 Mini Gold Edition that comes covered with 18 carat gold. Apart from the external bling layer, everything else about this Gold Edition remains the same, including its 3.2″ touchscreen display at 360 x 640 resolution, 8GB of internal memory, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a microSD memory card slot, 3G HSDPA, Wi-Fi connectivity, an integrated FM transmitter and a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus and Carl Zeiss optics. There is no exact word on pricing, but it will hit Europe, Africa, Asia, and Middle East from Q2 2010 onwards, retailing for approximately $850 thereabouts. To get a better idea on this handset’s elder sibling, the Nokia N97.
The Nokia N97 mini Gold Edition will be available across Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa and retail for about $850. The exact date of when this phone will hit the markets is however not known.
