Google announced today on the Official Google Mobile Blog the introduction of a new version of its Google Mobile application for iOS devices. The updated version will include push notifications for both the Gmail and Calendar services. Icon badges will notify users when new Gmail messages are received, while Calendar reminders will pop-up right on the home screen. In addition, the application will now display real-time search results when looking for flight info, weather, stock quotes, or currency conversions even before the “Search” button is tapped. Unfortunately, the application was not enhanced to support the new Retina Display.
Up until now, only the Yahoo and MobileMe applications were capable of pushing email to iOS-powered devices. It’s definitely a big milestone for Gmail and Google Calendar.
Then new Google Mobile App for iOS is now available in the iTunes App Store.
