Google has just given the community a first look at a brand-spanking-new Google Docs for productivity. The revamp includes a completely redesigned spreadsheet, drawing utilities, document utilities, group chat, and real-time collaboration, in which technology similar to that employed in Google Wave allows one user see what another is typing as he/she is typing it.
Interestingly, up to fifty individuals are now able to collaborate in one article, which seriously increases productivity for large-scale projects. As Gmail users have become accustomed to, the new Google Docs will also allow users to chat with other in a box in the lower right-hand corner of the screen.
Useful features like rulers, floating images, spell check as one types have converted an ordinary text document into what now seems to be a dedicated word processor like Microsoft Word. Additionally, spreadsheets now feature faster load time, drag and drop functionality, and auto-completion.
