Google announced yesterday on its Lat Long Blog that it has finally made the Buzz Layer available on Google Maps. It appears that it was one of the most requested features by both Buzz and Maps users. Already, Buzz is available on all major mobile phone platforms as either a stand-alone application or a layer on Google Maps for Mobile.
It seems like now that Google has addressed the many privacy issues that plagued the service at launch, more and more users actually using the service. I must admit that I really like the Buzz layer on Google Maps for BlackBerry. I sometimes find it quite entertaining to read all the different Buzz posts by individuals around my location. However, it can be a bit straining to my eyes to spot the Buzz posts on the tiny screen of my BlackBerry smartphone.
To view the Buzz layer on Google Maps online, all you have to do is go to maps.google.com and select “Buzz” from under the “More…” button on the top right corner of the map. This will definitely allow you to view Buzz posts more easily for an indefinite number of hours. Unfortunately, the feature does not allow you to post any updates. You’d still have to use one of the many mobile applications.
