Earlier this morning, we discussed how Twitter can either sink a movie or make it a success. James Cameron’s newest creation, Avatar, isn’t due out until December, but the release of its trailer this morning on Apple’s website (and announced on Twitter) seems likely to make it perhaps the most discussed movie-not-due-out-for-4-months we’ve ever seen.
Part of the reason, unfortunately, is that demand for the trailer is so high that it’s not working for many people and they’re tweeting their frustration. But it’s also a film with huge expectations – Cameron is of course one of the most successful directors in history with films like Terminator and Titantic to his credit – and Avatar is supposedly one of the most technically sophisticated movies we’ve ever seen.
