Remember Palm Pre? It’s that cute smartphone that was supposed to be a big competitor to Apple’s iPhone. The OS that powers it, webOS, is a powerful one, but when it comes to applications that are actually available for webOS, it’s a sad sight.
webOS, and Palm Pre with it, hasn’t seen a new app for weeks, which is a huge annoyance for users and a clear sign that developers are too busy developing the next iPhone app to be filling up Palm’s App Catalog.
So, it’s very good news for Pre and its users to see a couple of new apps introduced for the platform. This time, it’s the free restaurant reservation service OpenTable, and Fliq Bookmarks, an app that helps you transfer bookmarks from Safari to the Pre.
Hopefully, these two are just an indication of what’s to come: many, many great apps for webOS and the Pre. If it doesn’t happen soon, Palm’s webOS will simply get squashed by other mobile platforms.
