AT&T this week revealed that between 400,000 and 500,000 iPad 3G devices have been activated in the first two months of the hardware’s availability.
“One thing that’s been encouraging and a bit surprising so far is the level of interest from business customers,” said AT&T Chief Financial Officer Rick Lander. “…Right from the beginning with the iPad, we’ve had a number of our business customers express interest. A number of them have trials going on.”
And that they do. More than 50 percent of Fortune 100 companies have either deployed, or are testing iPad devices for deployment.
“Businesses see the opportunity in many cases to use the iPad potentially in place of laptops for many of their people that travel,” Linder stated.
AT&T expects further adoption of the hand held tablet in the coming months, especially as more and more are manufactured — albeit not quick enough.
Updated information to come as it becomes available.
