The excitement about the iPhone 4 has quickly been shadowed by a myriad of hardware and software issues such as screen discoloration [later explained to be drying glue], antenna and reception problems, mis-matched volume buttons, rear cameras that refuse to work, and proximity sensor failure.
Now, an increasing number of users have begun reporting in an expanding thread on the Apple Support forums that 3G connectivity on their new iPhone 4 is either slow or not present at all in cities where 3G is actually available. Furthermore, some individuals claim testing the issue by comparing the iPhone 4 with either an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS. The latter are said to be always faster than the new iPhone 4.
A few iPhone 4 owners report experiencing the problem sporadically. It’s unknown at this point whether this issues is related to the antenna issue, or if it’s actually a completely different problem. This morning, Apple acknowledge that a bug in the software currently makes the iPhone display signal stronger than it really is. However, in this case users are actually having trouble loading webpages and getting their applications to work due to a bad 3G connectivity.
Apple has yet to address this issue. Let us know if your iPhone 4 finds it difficult to connect to 3G.
