Apple has today announced the sale of over 3 million iPad tablets in the 80 days or so since the crowd-pleasing device has been on sale. The company boast selling its 3 millionth iPad on Monday.
“People are loving iPad as it becomes a part of their daily lives,” said Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “We’re working hard to get this magical product into the hands of even more people around the world, including those in nine more countries next month.”
Apple notes that developers have put together a whopping 11,000 new applications exclusively for the tablet, with access to thousands of other apps originally made for iPhone.
It doesn’t stop there, however. Apple continues to sell thousands and thousands of iPads on a weekly basis, and this number is sure to continue rising.
Demand is so high for the device that Apple has implemented 7-10 business day wait times, followed by 5-day shipments from Asia, where the device is manufactured.
