Verizon Wireless announced today the introduction of an entry-level handset by Motorola named “Motorola Citrus.” The announcement comes just moments after the wireless carrier introduce the brand spanking new Motorola Droid Pro. According to Verizon Wireless, the Motorola Citrus features Android 2.1 [Eclair]. The candybar-shaped smartphone will apparently be sold for an “affordable” price.
Verizon Wireless indicates:
“Motorola CITRUS™ is powered by Android™ 2.1 and delivers an affordable, entry-level, customizable smartphone experience in a compact design that is easy on both the eyes and the earth.”
As you can see, the device must be somewhat eco-friendly as well. At the moment, details such as pricing and availability have not yet been released. We’ll update as soon as the wireless carrier makes available an official press release.
Update: Verizon Wireless has made available the official press release. According tot he company, the Motorola Citrus will come pre-loaded with Bing search and Bing Maps. In addition, the device will be equipped with touch panel on its back, which will allow users to navigate and scroll without blocking the main display. The device will be fully customizable. It’s also very eco-friendly.
