Google is seemingly testing a new feature that would allow individuals to integrate their Twitter account into Google News in order to see what news articles or stories their followers are sharing. Already, many are reporting that a new box — which has been properly titled “Friends” — appears on the right side of the Google News homepage, prompting users to enter their Twitter username and click “Save.”
“Connect your Twitter account to see when people you follow are talking about the news,” reads the Friends box. There’s also a link that redirects individuals to a Google News Help page, which includes more information about the Friends box.
Google Explains:
“Friends is an experimental section in the side column that helps you find news articles that your friends are sharing on Twitter.
In the open text box, enter your Twitter username and click “Save.” Google News will refresh, and you will see a list of updates containing news articles shared by the people you follow. Please note that Friends only shows you articles that can be found in Google News. If someone you follow has shared an article or a link that cannot be found in Google News, then you will not see that update in the Friends section.”
