Ladies and gents, brace yourselves. Twitter is once again down! 🙂 The performance issue has been officially acknowledged by the Twitter team on the Twitter Status page. As of this writing, the service has been down and/or experiencing issues for over an hour now. The so-called Fail Whale has been making appearances all this time now.
The company writes on the Status page:
“We’re currently experiencing a high error rate on Twitter. Our infrastructure and operations engineers are responding to the incident.”
We shouldn’t be surprised. It’s Twitter all. Let us know in the comments how this has affected your day.
Update: The team has issued the following update on the Twitter Status page:
“Thu Aug 5 22:39:04 UTC 2010: Twitter is currently recovering, Tweets are are flowing again. We expect a full recovery in the next hour.”
