Research In Motion is today showing off the new BlackBerry Browser, which is based on the WebKit rendering engine, and its features on The Official BlackBerry Blog — Inside BlackBerry. We have previously seen the WebKit-based BlackBerry Browser in action.
According to the Senior Product Manager responsible for browser development on BlackBerry 6, the new BlackBerry Browser offers the following features:
- New Start Page — The new BlackBerry input box allows users to enter both URLs and search terms. Additionally, the new box offers a new auto-complete box with bookmarks and history items.
- Tabbed Browsing — As the name suggests, the browser includes a tab feature. An icon on the top-right corner of the browser will tell users the number of open tabs, and will allow them switch between tabs or create new ones.
- Social Feeds Integration and Options Menu — An improved ability to add RSS feeds has been integrated into the new browser along with several other options. Additionally, the Option Menu has been improved to make it easier for users to change their settings.
- Enhanced User Experience — New options have been added to support both touchscreen and trackpad control to make the overall browsing experience better. For instance, the browser now includes the pinch-to-zoom and Automatic Font Size Adjustment features.
