According to a new post on the Windows Blog, it would appear as if Microsoft is making preparations to launch the first Windows 7 service pack — also know as Service Pack 1 — in the first half of 2010. In addition to providing a compilation of updates already distributed via Windows Update, SP1 is slated to bring some interesting changes to Windows Server 2008 R2.
See, Microsoft is making two new and interesting features available. The first of which is called RemoteFX, which essentially allows for interaction with high-quality video and 3D applications over a remote desktop session. Of course, Windows Server 2008 R2, is required, but it’s neat nonetheless.
Redmond-based Microsoft is also going to make a new feature dubbed HyperV available for Windows Server 2008 R2, which will allow for the efficient allocation of memory to multiple virtual machines.
More information as it becomes available.
