Earlier today, ON&E reported that the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority [PTA] blocked all BlackBerry services in the country. Now, we’re learning that Kuwait might also follow suit. The Ministry of Interior of Kuwait is reportedly planning to block the BlackBerry Messenger service because it cannot be controlled by the Ministry of Communications or security officials. Users allegedly take advantage of this freedom to spread rumors and organize strikes in the country.
The decision was taken after studies apparently proved their claims. Several meetings were held before the parties involved reached a verdict. However, three different wireless carriers in Kuwait have indicated that they have not received any request from the government. At least, not yet.
