Opera announced today that, as of March 2010, the browser has more than 100 million users. The desktop and mobile versions of Opera have more than 50 million users each.
This announcement comes just a month after Opera announced that its desktop downloads had tripled since the launch of the “browser ballot” in Europe. While Opera isn’t growing as fast as say, Google’s Chrome browser, the company is reporting year-over-year growth of 30% on the desktop.
In March, Opera released Opera 10.5x, dubbing it “the fastest browser on earth.” While still a small player in the desktop space, Opera is a major contender on mobile handsets and on embedded systems like set-top boxes and consoles.
We’ve covered past beta builds of Opera 10.5x and have been impressed with its speed and support for standards like CSS3.
