UK Apple / iPhone lovers Good News 4 U— you just got another carrier option for your iPhone. Orange UK will be bringing the iPhone 3G and the iPhone 3GS to Orange UK customers later this year.
Orange will be selling the phone in all Orange shops, the Orange website, and through selected partners. Although the release date, pricing and tariff options have not been announced, interested customers can pre-register here.
This ends the exclusivity agreement that carrier O2 has had with Apple since the iPhone was launched in the U.K. in November of 2007. It also brings Orange’s iPhone count to 28 countries and territories.
This is an interesting move, as it signals that Apple is becoming more comfortable with moving away from carrier exclusivity deals. Right now, only the U.S. and Germany remain as the major countries where the iPhone has a presence with only one carrier option.
So U.K. users, are you excited about the iPhone coming to Orange? Does this change your mind about your next phone purchase?
