With the official release of the iPhone 3.0 OS only a few weeks behind them, Apple today released to developers the next feature release of the iPhone OS.
Although Apple hasn’t posted a changelog, improvements and bugs are filling up the forums on some Apple blogs. Here’s what I’ve been able to gather so far:
- Mobile iTunes is now buggy on some devices. If you use your device for media listening/viewing, wait for another release.
- MMS is enabled by default now, but still doesn’t work properly on AT&T without some tweaks
- Tethering still works via the hack
- Major update to the baseband 05.08.01 (fewer dropped calls?). For SIM unlockers, you’ll want to skip
- Startup/Shutdown times improved. Also opening/closing applications
- Bluetooth AVRCP profiles still not supported
- When entering email addresses, iPhone recognizes Google sync contacts
- Some 3GS owner/developers notice that they don’t have to put their device in the device list for their iPhones to be activated under 3.1
Remember, this is a Beta and things soemtimes break. With that being said, it is always interesting to find out what’s new on the iPhone.
We posted already iPhone 3.0 OS to download and this is the first beta version of iPhone OS 3.1, so there would be many more features revealed furthermore.
