Vodafone announced today on the Vodafone eForum that the over-the-air (OTA) update to Android 2.2 (Froyo) for the HTC Desire will begin rolling out on Monday, August 23. As usual, the rolling out will be gradual, which means that not all HTC Desire owners will get Android 2.2 at once. Overall, the roll out process should take approximately two weeks.
In regard to the delay, the company stated the following:
“Our priority has been to make sure that the software does what we said it will do. This meant testing took a little longer than anticipated.”
It appears that Android 2.2 is beginning to become available for more and more Android-powered smartphones. T-Mobile has promised to make the Android 2.2 update for the HTC Desire sometime next month. We’ll see how that goes.
