Toshiba will reportedly introduce a new 10-inch Android-powered tablet computer dubbed the “SmartPad” next month at the 2010 IFA Consumer Electronics Show in Berlin, Germany. Just a couple of weeks ago, we learned that Samsung is also planning to finally reveal its much anticipated Android-powered Samsung Galaxy Tab at the same event.
Now, Italian website Notebook Italia [Google Translation] has posted a few images of the so-called SmartPad along with some specifications ahead of its big debut. For instance, the SmartPad is said to feature a 10-inch display and a NVIDIA Tegra 2 chipset. The device will a currently unknown version of the Android platform. It will come equipped with a front-facing camera, touch-sensitive buttons, HDMI output, USB and Mini-USB ports, some kind of dock station connector.
The tablet design, however, is not original at all. It looks pretty similar to some of Toshiba’s previous tablet computers. Luckily, the new device will be powered by Android instead of Windows.
