Research In Motion announced the new BlackBerry Mobile Voice System [MVS] 5.0, which basically allows businesses to use their regular desk phone number and extension from their BlackBerry smartphone through the Cisco Unified Communications Manager. The new BlackBerry MVS 5.0 service works over both a cellular network provided by a wireless carrier or or Wi-Fi.
Well, Research In Motion has finally made the BlackBerry Mobile Voice System 5.0 available for $180 per user. The software is aimed toward the enterprise market.
According to the company, BlackBerry MVS 5.0 offers the following features.
- Wi-Fi network access controls to set which Wi-Fi networks employees can access
- Network preference settings with the option of prioritizing the use of Wi-Fi or cellular for making phone calls
- Authentication to help ensure that only authorized BlackBerry smartphones have access to the corporate phone system
- Incoming call filtering based on allowed and blocked caller lists
