It’s somewhat frustrating to read consist analyst reports of a “Verizon iPhone” without very much evidence, but alas, it happens — frequently. So it should come as no surprise that some more analysts have come forth, proclaiming that a Verizon iPhone is due out, and Big Red is expected to sell millions.
First up is Barclays Capital analyst Ben Reitzes:
“While widely expected, we believe the additional carrier would extend and accelerate the iPhone 4 cycle,” he said, suggesting that Apple has placed in orders for 2010 Q4 production of a CDMA device for release in the first quarter of 2011. Reitzes guesstimates that nearly 9 million handsets would be sold in 2011 alone, and notes that their could potentially be a huge market for CDMA phones in Asia.
Reitzes’ analysis is based on “checks”.
The next analysis comes from Bank of America/Merrill Lynch’s Scott Craig:
Craig notes that Apple could manage to sell an additional 8 million handsets in 2011 for Verizon Wireless. That’s about all.
