Google has quietly introduced virtual keyboards to many of its non-English search portals like Google Greece [Pictured], Google Poland, Google Russia, Google Czech Republic, and many others. Now you can find buttons to open up virtual keyboards either on the corresponding homepage of all these portal, or in the search results page next to the search bar.
It appears that the new virtual keyboards have actually been rolled out to countries that do not use the standard Latin alphabet, but rather their own native characters. The keyboards can be dragged and moved around the screen. They also offer additional characters not found on traditional keyboards.
An official Google Virtual Keyboard support Page states:
“Our virtual keyboard allows you to enter the precise search terms you want, regardless of the language keys on your physical keyboard. It can be helpful for people who use one of the many non-Latin script-based languages that require special characters such as Arabic, Greek, and Thai.”
