Google announced Wednesday on its Official Google Mobile Blog the introduction of a new updated version of its popular “Image Search” application for Android 2.1 and iPhone OS 3.0. The purpose of the update is aimed to help users find what they’re looking for more easily and quickly.
According to Google the new updated version of the app brings the following features:
- The thumbnails are square to maximize the number of images we can get on the screen at one time so you can scan them quickly
- You can swipe to see the next or previous page of results, or tap the large, stationary ‘Next’ and ‘Previous’ page buttons
- We optimized for speed so that the images appear quickly when you browse
Additionally, the Mountain View-based search giant has made it easier to view the images found by introducing a new image viewing page, which contains a small black background and makes buttons fade out after a few seconds to emphasize the selected image. The new page also allows users to browse through the results by swiping their fingers sideways.
The new Google Image Search for Mobile can be downloaded by going to Google.com on your phone, and clicking on “images.” The application is available worldwide in 38 different languages.
