Avatar’s been a very huge hit. Guys everywhere are chatting it up about how wonderful it is. I haven’t yet personally seen the movie, but I plan to some time in the next 5 years or so. And while the film is expected to make its DVD/Blu-Ray release on Earth Day [April 22], we’re learning that not one bonus feature will be included. Expect only the movie in 2-dimensional goodness. According to the Consumerist, “Fox is claiming that the lack of extras on the DVD isn’t just to save them for later editions, but to get high quality sound and video onto the disc.” Oh, right.
If what you’re looking for is those extras (commentary, the making of, deleted scenes), you’ll be waiting likely until the end of this year. Perhaps two disks is likely at this point, so as to get that “high quality sound and video” on one disk!
But wait! What’s watching Avatar without three dimensions? After all, the 3D experience was the most-liked part of the movie. When’s that coming? Sometime in 2011. Yep — you’ll be waiting all the way until next year to get your paws on the 3D version of Avatar.
